We are pleased to have six researchers from the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass (FunGlass), Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, Slovakia, carrying out their long term research /training visits to our Institute. Dr. Germán Andrés Clavijo Mejía is working on radiopaque bioactive glasses and coatings, Dr. Eduin Ivan González Castillo is working on mesoporous silica (nano)particle containing chitosan nanocomposite coatings with osteogenic and antibacterial properties, Akrity Anand, PhD student, is working on mesoporous ion-doped bioactive glasses, Susanta Sengupta, PhD student, is working on fibrous structures based on biopolymers and biologically active ion doped mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles for tissue engineering applications, and Fulden Dogrul, PhD student, who is working on a new family of bioceramic scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. They are working under main supervision of Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini and their projects are coordinated in Erlangen by Zoya Hadzhieva, and Marcela Arango Ospina (PhD students).
