Strong participation of our Institute at BioMaH conference in Rome, Italy

Dr. Khodaei, Sonja Kuth, Faina bider and Prof. Boccaccini at BioMah, Rome

Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini, Sonja Kuth, Faina Bider (PhD students) and Dr. Azin Khodaei are attending the “3rd Conference on Biomaterials and Novel Technologies for Healthcare” (BioMah)  in Rome, Italy.

Prof. Boccaccini was one of the presidents of the conference, together with Dr. Mauro Alini (Switzerland) and Dr. Giovanni Barbanti (Italy) while the conference is chaired by Dr. Julietta Rau (Italy).

In the session devoted to bioactive glasses, Prof. Boccaccini presented the keynote lecture: “Ion releasing biomaterials: overview of well-known and less common ions enhancing the biological activity and functionalities of bioactive glasses”, while Dr. Khodaei presented the lecture “Cu-doped bioactive glass nanoparticles as icariin carrier: non-convergent osteogenic and osteoimmunogenic performance”.

Faina Bider and Sonja Kuth presented posters on their research involving composite hydrogels for wound healing and soft hydrogels for neural applications, respectively. Attending also our former PhD student Dr. Muhammad Maqbool, currently working in industry in the Netherlands.

Sonja Kuth won the best poster prize. She presented the poster: “Improving the printability of hyaluronic acid/gelatin bioinks by pre-crosslinking” (co-author, Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini).
