On 11-13 January 2023, we received the visit of Dr. Jonny Blaker, Research Area Lead for Biomedical Materials, Henry Royce Institute, and Senior Lecturer in Biomaterials at The University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Dr. Blaker presented an Institute’s seminar on “Hierarchical nanofibre constructs for tissue regeneration”, also in the context of the international seminar series of the Collaborative Research Center SFB/TRR 225 “From the fundamentals of biofabrication towards functional tissue models”. He visited the laboratories of our Institute and we had discussions regarding establishing collaborations in the field of composite bioactive fibers for soft tissue engineering. We have collaborated previously extensively with Dr. Blaker (e.g. ref. [1]) as he was the first PhD student of Prof. Boccaccini back at Imperial College London in the early 2000s.
