Doctoral thesis success: Susanta Sengupta

Dr. Boccaccini, Susanta, and the rest of the comittee standing in front of a wall with the Zoom meeting projected behind them.

Many congratulations to Mr Susanta Sengupta for successfully defending his doctoral thesis titled “Fibrous structures based on biopolymers and biologically active ion doped mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles for tissue engineering applications: development and characterization” on 21st August 2023. Susanta carried out his doctoral studies under the co-tutelle agreement between our Institute (supervised by Prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini) and the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass (FunGlass), Alexander Dubcek University of Trencin, Slovakia (supervised by Prof. Dusan Galusek). The oral defense was held in Trencin. Prof. Boccaccini highlighted the novelty of Susanta’s research project in which he combined biochemical factors (ion released from bioactive glasses) and topography cues (e.g. diameter of electrospun fibers) to investigate biological response. The project let to publications (for example [1]). We congratulate Susanta on his doctorate and wish him all the best in his future career.
